It has been confirmed that James Marsden will not be reprising his role as Cyclops in the upcoming film,   X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Many of the cast members from previous films will be returning, such as Ian Mckellen, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman.

James Marsden’s character did in fact die in one of the previous X-Men films, but rumors started popping up around May that he was coming back, and that Cyclops would be resurrected. It had also been reported that Marsden was up for a cameo in the new X-Men film when he was seen on the same flight as Halle Berry, heading to a place where some of the new movie was being shot.

Marsden told Vulture that he will not be returning in the film series. He said “If this next film really works, Bryan has said that he wants to fix a few things, so hopefully Cyclops’s death is one of them.”

Marsden also added: “We’ll see, I always like Cyclops. But, they have a lot of characters they have to parcel out, spend time with each one, make sure everyone feels like they’ve been given their due, and introduce them appropriately. But, you could do a spin-off of every one of those characters and give them so much depth to the storyline.”

X-Men: Days Of Future Past will be released on July 18th, 2014.
