Having been surrounded by music from a young age, Dan Bailey had grown up with the arts as a major focus in his life. By the age of 13, the self-taught guitarist and drummer understood the positive influence music can have. Following a successful solo career, Bailey formed the Dan Bailey Tribe where he began playing regularly with special guests, including Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, South African legend Bakithi Kumalo and G. Love to name a few. Today, ahead of album ALCHEMISTIC dropping June 25th, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere Dan Bailey’s unique world fusion style single “Magic” and its accompanying video.
Bailey says of the single: “This song taps into the magic of universal love. The lyrics address this human condition that we’re all experiencing. We’re all connected. There’s magic inside of each of us. We’re all reflections of each other. All the challenges and crazy things we go through in life are all just to expand our awareness and grow our consciousness. I decided to have Chad (Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) on “Magic” because it had a funky-hip-hop-rock rhythm to it and I wanted that high energy that Chad brings to the drums. It was a highly inspired session, fun and exciting with good energy. He asked what I envisioned so I gave him an idea of what I wanted for the part and then Chad brought his own brand of magic to the song.”
Asked about the visuals that accompany the track, he adds: “We had just finished playing Envision and Jungle Jam festivals – dance music festivals in Costa Rica. The video was shot by the talented Carlos Sanchez from Nomad Art Studio in Jaco. He suggested filming at this amazing location where a wealthy individual donated the property to the public to become a park. It features the ruins of a sprawling abandoned, half-built mansion overlooking the ocean and tons of land. There’s a hauntingly magical quality to the place as the jungle starts to creep in to overtake the crumbling art covered walls. I just knew it would be the perfect place to shoot the music video.”
