DANIEL RADCLIFFE RETURNS TO THE LONDON STAGE AFTER A 5 YEAR ABSENCE

When that sweet little 11 year old boy named Daniel made his first appearance in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone,’ it was difficult to imagine him ever being a grown man. He just looked too adorable with the glasses and the messy hair. It seems as if that time has definitely come to an end, though, as Daniel Radcliffe is not the sweet, innocent wizard he used to be anymore.

Today it was announced that Radcliffe will be making his reappearance on the London stage in the West End play titled ‘The Cripple of Inishmaan.’ In the play, written by Martin McDonagh, Radcliffe plays a disabled orphan named Billy who dreams of becoming a Hollywood star. It will be a very dark comedy, something Radcliffe says is McDonagh’s specialty: “He walks that line between tragedy and comedy so brilliantly. So much of the comedy is just people being relentlessly cruel to Billy.”

Those words come from the same innocent wizard who has made appearances in two horror movies, one film which will have a healthy dose of gay sex scenes and another play in which he simply appeared fully naked. And then people wonder how all those Harry Potter fanfics can be so gross…

Either way, it does prove that Daniel Radcliffe is not just a child actor who rose to fame because of one role, because he clearly has his interests and he doesn’t shy away from taking those challenging roles in which he can truly prove himself as an actor. Way to go Dan!

So what do you think of this adult version of Daniel Radcliffe? Are you longing back for cute little Dan, or is it about time he doesn’t get tied to his first important film appearance whenever he does something new?
