Doctor Who composer, Murray Gold has revealed that David Bowie had potentially been approached to appear in the longest-running drama on television, but turned the role down!
After accidentally running into each other at an ice cream shop, Gold said he told Bowie that he writes music for Doctor Who.
“[Bowie] said, “I’m not doing it,” remembers Gold. “I said, ‘What do you mean?’ and he said, “They want me to do it.’ I don’t know what it means, to this day, but that’s what he said. I don’t know in what capacity, as an actor or as a musician. I would like to see an episode of Doctor Who scored by David Bowie,” Gold added graciously.
Bowie has been focusing on his music career instead of acting. He has recently released a single for “Valentine’s Day,” from his latest album The Next Day.
