David Boyd Presents His Second Single “Ambush”

“‘Ambush’ is a reminder to be on guard and remember who I am.”

Having grown up in Copenhagen with a rock loving father and a pop loving mom, David Boyd has a wide range of musical influences, all of which filter through into the music he makes. However, music wasn’t the first art form that established his passion for such – instead, he found a connection to, with and through dance, and as a result, found himself meeting a number of producers and musicians.

From there, as his confidence grew and he began writing his own songs, David took the plunge and moved to the United States where he went onto form New Politics, who’ve toured the world and had several big hits including “Give Me Hope.” As the pandemic gripped the world last year, New Politics decided to take a bit of a break. As a now established performer and song-writer, David didn’t want to give up his musical ambitions however and used the lockdown to continue honing his craft. Today, PopWrapped are delighted to premiere his new single – the follow up to debut solo release “Stay or Walk Away” – called “Ambush.”

The song highlights, particularly if you listen to NP’s tunes and his debut single, how David has grown as an artist over the years having sharpened his song-writing skills and this track is one that many will no doubt relate to. Asked about the story/inspiration to the song, David says: “Sometimes I find myself being taking advantage of by the people closest to me. I don’t want to change who or what I am, or become over protective/paranoid over people’s intentions. “Ambush” is a reminder to be on guard and remember who I am.”
