The 16-day government shutdown was met by opinions of all kinds; even Hollywood is weighing in.
Law & Order creator Dick Wolf, who has fictionalized world-news on the show, spoke about the fight between the Republicans and Democrats over the country’s fiscal appropriations.
“It was a terrible couple of weeks for the country as a whole. I mean how could people act this way?” the writer complained in a press event on Monday. “It’s a completely manufactured scenario and everybody knew what was going to happen and now they kicked the can down the road again… shame on all of them.”
Other celebrities who made headlines about the shutdown were Miley Cyrus and Ellen DeGeneres.
DeGeneres gave waitress Sarah Hoidahl $10,000 after she paid the bill for two soldiers who had been furloughed due to the shutdown.
Cyrus went a more comical route when she spoofed the government’s troubles when she hosted Saturday Night Live.
