It looks like Bob Iger will be hanging around the Mouse House a little while longer, as his contract has now extended to July 2, 2019, according to Deadline.
Last reported to stay on until 2018, 66-year old Bob Iger will remain the President of the Walt Disney Company for one more year than his contract now stipulates. Iger has a lot on his plate, but he is an expert at it by now, overseeing Walt Disney animation and live-action studios and theme parks, PIXAR, Lucasfilm, Marvel, the list goes on, proving his abilities in every aspect.
Once July 2, 2019 hits however, we won’t be rid of Bob Iger completely. Deadline also confirmed that Iger will stay on for three years past his term expiration as a consultant to the company, which even if we find a worthy successor, is comforting to know that he will continue to have some involvement and influence in a company that he has made remarkable strides with.
Fans who are lucky enough to get a ticket and a good seat can look forward to seeing Bob Iger at the opening ceremonies of the D23 Disney Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA this summer on July 14, 15, and 16.
Bob Iger also recently shared some exciting news regarding the future of the Star Wars films at the USC Tech Conference, which should be reported to you soon here from PopWrapped.
There are rumors that Bob Iger is considering a run for the White House in 2020, and while many of us, especially Disney fans, adore this idea, it might be good for Iger to take a little break for himself. One thing is for sure: we can’t wait to see what else he has in store for us in the next couple years, and even what he has planned beyond that.
