Disney Shuts Down Lucas Arts Game Department!

We all knew that once Disney took over all aspects of Lucas Arts, that sooner or later that Disney would start slowly but surely taking Lucas Arts apart piece by piece. According to Game Informer Magazine, Disney has released an official statement explaining their reasons behind this sudden move. This is what they had to say:

“After evaluating our position in the games department, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company’s risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we’ve has layoffs across the organization . We are incredibly appreciative and proud of the talented teams who have been developing our new titles.”

This news should come as no real shocked for anyone, even more so by the fact that Lucas Arts had been lacking in direction for some time now. They have had a lot of success in regards to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Lucas Arts also created the Indiana Jones games, but failed much to the disappointment of the company.
