D.K. Lyons, at the young age of five, said he was going to be a rock-star. Fast forward to today and he’s pretty much achieved and become exactly that. Having started writing songs and recording demos before he was a teenager, he now has more than a thousand of them in his possession, each a testament to his determination and ambition to become the best artist, musician and song-writer he can.
He recorded his debut EP, ‘Blame My Astrology’, which he released independently, in 2018 and to-date, it’s amassed over 20K streams on Spotify and 50K views on YouTube. There’s a second, titled ‘Vandalism’, on the horizon, though no release date is confirmed as yet, so Lyons is proving himself to be an artist here to stay and who is set to win over more music fans in the weeks and months ahead. His latest single “Summer Lullabies”, the video for which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, is a call for everyone who hears the track and sees the visuals to – as daunting and scary as it might be – embrace the unknown and fall in love with the process of chasing a dream.
Asked as to how he would personally describe the song, Lyons says that its him: “…trying to write a party song and still ending up including some subtle philosophy.” The video itself can only be described as something considerably unique and hugely entertaining. It’s a look at the entertainment industry and how it molds young artists, with Lyons starring – or dressing up – as five of his favourite artists, Tom Petty and Harry Styles among them, as well as playing a director who cannot accept or understand that each artist is and has their own special talent.
