Lily James, known for playing the free-spirited Lady Rose MacClare in Downton Abbey, is set to fill some very large shoes. She is set to play Natasha Rostova in BBC One’s television mini-series of Leo Tolstoy’s classic, War and Peace.

The role was previously taken by Hollywood legend, Audrey Hepburn in the 1956 film adaptation.

The series is set to air in 2015 on BBC One, and will be scripted by noted screenwriter Andrew Davies, who also wrote the British and American versions of the critically acclaimed TV series House of Cards. Paul Dano is rumored to star opposite James as Pierre Bezukhov, the love interest of Rustova.

War and Peace tells story of five Russian aristocratic families, the impact of the Napoleonic era on the tsarist society they live in, and the aftermath of the attempted French invasion of Russia in their daily lives . It is considered to be Tolstoy’s greatest work alongside Anna Karenina.
