Lowering her defenses, Ellie Goulding has spoken about her vocal insecurities and how she really didn’t think she was good enough to be a successful singer. Speaking to Grazia, Goulding revealed, “I didn’t believe I could sing or would go anywhere” and that she wished she’d “pursued music a little earlier and taken it more seriously.” The “Dead In The Water” singer found fame relatively early with her breakout debut album Lights, which took both the UK and USA by storm, offering up the Summer soundtrack “Starry Eyed”.
Whilst her success story is a well-deserved one, Ellie has worked hard to get to where she is, topping the Sound of 2010 poll and winning the Critics Choice Brit Award in the same year. The 26 year old also spoke about being back home and how she winds down: “I read more than I watch TV. I feel relaxed when I sit down in my flat because it’s such a rare occurrence. If I’m there, I start to feel peaceful again.” After the success of “Burn,” which is currently sitting atop the iTunes chart at #1, another new track has been revealed online: “Hearts Without Chains”, a track from her album re-issue, Halcyon Days. In the same vein, Ellie unveiled her collaboration with BURNS, a cover of Midnight Star’s “Midas Touch” and allowed fans to hear snippets of new songs from her upcoming release.
