E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey film adaption is due to be released in the summer of 2014, and that means that the media is desperately trying to obtain some news about the possible cast. A lot of names have been mentioned over the past few weeks, with various sorts of “evidence” to support these claims. But what is the status right now? Who would be the perfect Ana Steele or Christian Grey?
Recently, Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon in the successful CW series ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ commented on the rumours by saying that “there are so many young boys in Hollywood up for this role,” which implies that he himself thinks he is too old for the role. He added “I can’t say anything other than it’s a very interesting story, and whoever plays that role is going to have a lot of fun [in] rehearsal time.”
So does that mean he is actually considering the role? He definitely seems to be the fan favourite right now, and many are convinced that he will definitely take the role, but it remains to be seen what TVD fans think of it, not to mention his girlfriend Nina Dobrev…
When it comes to Anastasia, the shy college student who falls in love with Christian, Emma Watson seems to be the most popular choice. The ‘Harry Potter’ star has been rumoured to be involved basically from the start, and recently the hacker group Anonymous claimed they have uncovered some evidence of her involvement (although the creators of the film claimed that this was “outdated” information).
Emma is of course a very beautiful woman who might just be great for the role, but whether the mostly “innocent” Potterheads are willing to accept her involvement in the erotic film… that might not be very likely…
Although these two currently seem to be the favourites, there are still many other contenders. Examples are, Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and the model Kate Moss. For the role of Christian Grey, often mentioned actors are Matt Bomer, Ryan Gosling and Henry Cavill. The list could go on, but what is definitely clear is that there are still plenty of options!
So who do you think will take the lead roles? Is Emma going to get rid of her “innocent” image, and will we see girls fainting as Ian takes it all a step further? We would love to hear your opinion!
