Inspired by the likes of The Corrs, Alanis Morrisette, Joni Mitchell and Paul Simon among othes, Emma Webb, who has worked as a vocal and music teacher since leaving University in 2013 with a BA Hons in Music, where she trained in Classical music and Musical Theatre, is very much an indie-folk-pop artist whose music has the lyrical power to resonate with a wide variety of people.
Nowhere is this clearer than on her new single “90s Playlist”, which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere. At a time when so many of us have spent and will likely continue to spend time away from friends and family, the song’s focus on having and expressing gratitude for being lucky enough to have such people in your life is one we can all feel a strong connection to. Emma has already earned herself praise and support from the BBC Radio 2 and wowed audiences at Proms In The Park and on Britain’s Got Talent, and this new release looks set to cement her status as a real artist to watch.
The song also showcases Emma’s vulnerable side – something many artists it could be argued are often afraid to show the world – and plays like a diary entry; a page of raw, heartfelt story-telling. She says of the track: “My music is all about unconditional love, self-love, and discovering what’s really important in life. It’s very honest and all my songs are specifically about something or someone in my life. 90s Playlist and the upcoming EP are all songs about friends. I think writing about friendship and family is so much more interesting than writing about lust and sex, I think there’s so much more to say, and in my opinion those unconditional relationships you have in your life are so much more important, and tend to be a lot longer and have a lot more happen than a romantic relationship.”
