Eurythmics earned their second nomination for the prestigious Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. They scored a nod for its Class of 2022, as one of the 17 nominated musical acts.
This marked their second career nod, they previously secured a nomination back in 2018. Eurythmics was comprised of frontwoman Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart. They have been eligible for a Rock Hall nomination since 2006.
They exploded on MTV in the ’80s, as well as dance floors and concert arenas. They are credited for changing the world’s perception of what a pop group sounded like and looked like. They were praised for their instrumental and production prowess, as well as their soaring vocals.
They are known for such smash hits as “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” “Would I Lie To You,” “Missionary Man,” “Here Comes The Rain Again,” “There Must Be an Angel (Playing with My Heart),” and “Would I Lie to You?”
Throughout their accomplished career in the music industry, Eurythmics have sold in excess of 80 million albums, and they have secured over 20 international hits.
They have been nominated for seven Grammy Awards, and they won the award for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal” for “Missionary Man” back in 1987.
Eight of their studio albums were re-released on vinyl via RCA/Legacy Recordings. These vinyl feature all of the original illustrations, album artwork, and liner notes.
While the British duo may have split in 1990, they have reconvened on several occasions, most recently in 2014.
After four decades, their longevity and musical influence continue through performances in support of their charitable works and political activism.
