Another celebrity has voiced their support for President Obama’s marriage equality bill.

Zachary Quinto (American Horror Story and Star Trek Into Darkness), who is openly gay, has said that marriage equality is an “unstoppable wave” and with 13 states all adopting the bill, it is only a matter of time before it is the same in all 50 states.

Speaking at a special screening of his new movie in Washington D.C., Quinto said it doesn’t matter if marriage equality happens through Federal Government passing a bill or whether each of the 50 states “just find their way to it.”

Quinto also commented on the impact the original “Star Trek” franchise had on changing the acceptable level of tolerances in the US.  He called Gene Roddenberry, “a visionary” and the diversity of the crew on the Enterprise alone showed that vision Roddenberry had.  However he did say that the new films do show the darker side of the crew and that is reflective of the time we currently live in.

The original “Star Trek” TV show was the first programme in US history to show an interracial kiss on national TV between Uhuru and Captain Kirk in 1968.

Star Trek Into Darkness” is currently playing in UK and US.
