Beauty and the Beast is quickly approaching and fans can now hear the full soundtrack and Josh Groban's version of the new song "Evermore!"
This weekend, Disney released the cast recording for the new Beauty and the Beast film. While all our favorites from the original film are there, some songs from the Broadway production were brought in and some new ones were written for the film.
For someone like me who's favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast, I have a love/hate relationship with this new film. First off, apparently the Beast can read in it which then changes everything since Belle falls in love teaching him to read.
And second, they cut my favorite song from the Broadway show to add this one. In the Broadway production, the Beast sings "If I Can't Love Her" about Belle.
In the film, it was said that "If I Can't Love Her" wouldn't fit in and so "Evermore" was created to take its place. And it is fine. Not anything like Terrance Mann's brilliant take on "If I Can't Love Her" but we'll have to wait and see what happens in the film with "Evermore."
Beauty and the Beast hits theaters this Friday and the soundtrack did calm some of our fears about the movie. But again, it is weird seeing a 'live-action' version of this classic film. For now, we'll just have to wait and see what ends up happening with the movie once it hits theaters.
While we are all quick to judge the movie, it may just surprise us yet. Even if the Beast can read when it is very clear in the Disney movie that he cannot, in fact, read and that Belle has to teach him.
