Fashion Police a fashioned focus, kind of variety show on E! hosted by Joan Rivers is in hot water.

According to Deadline, twelve writers from the show have gone on strike. This is due to about 1.5 million dollars in unpaid regular and overtime hours for the writers. They have filed complaints about this with the California Division of Labor Standards enforcement.

One of the writers had this to say: “The most I’ve been paid for a show has been for eight hours of work … In reality, I put in anywhere from 12 to 32 additional hours on each show –- time I should have been compensated for.”

E! has always issued a statement about the complaints: “E! values our ‘Fashion Police’ writers and we pay them fairly and in full legal compliance.”

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) is supporting the striking writers. Also in addition for the back pay, the Writers Guild is also asking the show to gain full Writer’s Guild coverage. According to a letter from the WGA: “There are two possible endings to this conflict. Either E! will agree to cover the writers under a Guild contract, or it will no longer benefit from the writing talents of the current staff of Guild members.”
