Billie Joe Armstrong, also known as the lead singer of rock group Green Day is having another minor meltdown, this time his anger is directed towards Korean pop sensation PSY.
After going to rehab after his meltdown at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in September and being released, Armstrong took to Instagram to vent his feelings, posting a picture of PSY captioned “This dude is the herpes of music. Once you think it’s gone, it comes back. #herpes #flareup #pleasegoaway.” Ouch.
PSY, on the other hand, isn’t fazed by the comment. In an interview with FUSE, the singer asked what herpes was and after hearing the answer actually thanked Billie Joe.
“I kinda like it, it’s cool,” he said. “He said I’m like the herpes… that keeps coming back. I think it’s really cool. Thank you.” Wait, what?
Yes, he did actually say that. As weird as it is, I see both parts of this little argument. I can see how Billie Joe would feel threatened and upset about PSY’s success but he’s a legend and nobody can steal his fire.
In regards to PSY’s questionable thank you, I don’t think he means what people think he means. What I believe PSY is trying to say is that he’s taking the rude comment and turning into something positive by saying that no matter what he’s just going t keep coming back stronger and harder to get rid of.
Yeah, I’m not so sure either singer is right in this case. While Armstrong is a legend and this is a free country what he said was really disrespectful. And PSY, even though he’s trying to brush it off is really just encouraging the behavior. Welcome to Hollywood, where anybody will stab anybody else in the back to get what they want.
