Sam Taylor-Johnson made her directorial debut in 2009 with the film Nowhere Boy. The film, which was about the early life of John Lennon, went on to win four BAFTA awards, including outstanding British Film.
Several names have been thrown around for the directing gig, including Gus Van Sant and Joe Wright. According to Deadline, producer Michael De Luca felt that Taylor-Johnson is the right candidate for the job. “Sam’s unique ability to gracefully showcase complex relationships dealing with love, emotion and sexual chemistry make her the ideal director to bring Christian and Anastasia’s relationship to life.”
Now that it has the director, all we need are the actors to portray the naive college student Anastasia Steele and the successful and mysterious Christian Grey. Who are your picks for the S&M love story?
