First Trailer For ‘The Defenders’ Is Released

The first trailer for Marvel/Netflix’s next show, The Defenders, has been released, giving fans a nice look at the four heroes’ next battle.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist have all been leading up to the main event: The Defenders. We’ve seen the four heroes deal with their own problems, fight their own fights, and come into their own as a hero. Aside from Jessica and Luke, they haven’t met, and they sure haven’t worked together, so fans are excited to see this.

Luckily for them, they can get a taste by watching a brand new trailer for the eight episode show, which is out on Netflix August 18th. In this trailer, we see the four heroes interact, physically fight each other, meet the villain, and argue, so it’s looking good. Not to mention that some other favourites are back like Claire Temple and Misty Knight. Take a look at the trailer here:

Didn’t your heart just jump when Matt walked in to Jessica’s interrogation?

Seeing them and their personalities conflict will be interesting. At first, I’m sure they’ll be a very dysfunctional team. But then they’ll come together. Seeing Sigourney Weaver’s character was kind of anticlimactic because really she just looks like a rich lady, not a villain. Wikipedia says her character’s name is Alexandra but I don’t know if that’s a standing Marvel comics character or a new one made just for this miniseries.

I had guessed Claire would be the one to really bring the four heroes all together, but based on this trailer, it looks like Stick did. We only know of his connection to Matt (and Elektra, who is risen from the dead, it seems!), so I’m very curious as to why he’s contacted the other three. And I’m also curious as to the role Claire will have, if not the uniter. I guess the four of them learning to work together will bring lots of injuries she’ll need to tend to.

Despite what you may have thought on the individual seasons, you can’t deny that this show looks pretty cool. This is what we’ve been waiting for since Daredevil season one, and I trust Marvel won’t let us down.

What are your thoughts on the trailer?
