London’s Flo Gallop is the queen of relatable and raw. Her latest single “Chasing After You”, the video for which PopWrapped are delighted to premiere, picks apart the frustration of being besotted by a prince-charming, but realising he’s not all that and not wanting to spend your life chasing after him. The electrifying single is rich with honest emotion as she sings, “No one knows that I have been there when you take off your clothes” and carries a delicious wit and sass in the production. The track has an undeniable groove carried through the ripples of acoustic guitar which switches up into a melodic bassy sound that just screams power. Gallop shares: “The words in it are just exactly how I felt and I’m so glad we wrote it when we did because there’s so much emotion in it.”
The new video for “Chasing After You” is a clever display of Gallop’s point of view. A day in the life of the singer with the boy she does not wish to be chasing after, the video is full of charm and charisma. We follow Gallop around, as she shows us the task of putting up with someone who may be attractive, but whose conversation is as difficult as drawing blood from a stone. The entire video is a colourful and vibrant palette of funny, lighthearted moments. Carrying drinks and popcorn for two, Gallop sings her heart out, verbally giving the two fingers up to the boy who won’t get off his phone. Her style is classy, her smile is radiant and her bright eyes are totally endearing.
After the release of her last single “Can’t Be Friends”, Gallop’s music is a string of intelligent songstress moves combined with sheer vulnerability and the knack for just keeping it real.
