It is okay, folks! No need to fret that Steve Perry’s wheel in the sky will stop turning.
Perry, former Journey front-man, has revealed that he went under the knife after test results showed that he had melanoma.
”Three weeks ago a routine mole was taken off my face and the lab report came back Melanoma skin cancer,” Perry blogged on June 6. “I’ve had two surgeries in two weeks to remove all the cancer cells and I’ve been told they think they got it all and no other treatments are required.”
Unfortunately, Perry’s good news ended there. Perry, 64, also revealed that in December, his girlfriend, Kellie Nash, passed away due to breast cancer that had spread to her brain.
The lovebirds had been together for about a year and a half, and met during production of the Lifetime movie Five. Five chronicled the lives of five women battling cancer, in which Nash appeared in the closing statement and discussed her double mastectomy. Perry was instantly attracted to her.
“She was so strong, so courageous and we really loved each other so very much,” he wrote. “I’ve been trying to grieve and not run from this loss so for the last 5 months that’s what I’ve been doing along with recalling everything being in love with Kellie taught me.”
We wish you the best, Steve. And, we won’t stop believing that the lights will never go out in your city!
