Fourth Time’s The Charm in “Jane Got A Gun” Casting?!

NULL

Clare Sidoti

Staff Writer

Yes we spoke too soon when a month ago we announced that production on the cursed Western revenge film, Jane Got A Gun, had finally turned a corner and Bradley Cooper was going to step in as leading man. Not long after the news broke, Cooper joined the growing list of Hollywood heavyweights attached to and then disappearing from the film. However, it might finally be the case of 4th time lucky as Vulture announced yesterday (6 May) that Ewan McGregor was “in talks” for the role left vacant by Michael Fassbender, Jude Law and Bradley Cooper.

I’m sure that producers of the film are hoping that Obi-Wan Kenobi can use the force and levitate this film out of the quagmire it’s found itself in. While Deadline reports that the villain role wasn’t due to begin shooting till later in the production, they must be cutting fairly close to the line given the number of setbacks with this role. Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby), who plays Natalie Portman’s ex-lover who she reunites with in order to protect her farm from the villain, insists that the movie isn’t in as dire straits as we’ve been led to believe. When Vulture caught up with him at a publicity lunch for The Great Gatsby last week he said that they were about “halfway or more” through shooting and that due to the nature of filming, “nothing will have to be reshot” involving the villain character. He described the mood of the New Mexico set as “winning out there. We’re having a great time. It’s been wonderful.”
