Fox premiered The Gifted on October 2nd, a Monday night at 9/8c and it promised mutants without the X-Men around to protect them because it takes place after whatever chased the X-Men away, which we heard briefly of in Logan. The show stars True Blood’s hunk, Stephen Moyer, and Angel alum, Amy Acker. They star as parents of two children that have the X Gene and this is very complicated for Reed (Moyer) because he prosecutes mutants for their crimes.

The show starts quick and introduces us to the mutants running the mutant underground. Those include Lorna (Emma Dumont), Eclipse (Sean Teale), and John Proudstar (Blair Redford) who are out trying to save a mutant who escaped from prison. Things with the rescue go south but we don’t want to spoil anything before you get a chance to catch up. This show is very good and reminds us of Dark Angel from the early 2000’s in all the best ways. The characters are believable and the writing is done so well, we care about them instantly. The action shots are excellent for a television show and we are hoping it continues to piece together what happened to the X-Men. If it never does, we are too invested to care after just two episodes.
