From Loki To Hook: Tom Hiddleston Joins The Disney Family In New Film

Looks like Disney wants to get Loki’d for the sixth installment of the little sprite’s solo adventures as Tinkerbell is getting a new hook in a certain God of Mischief fan favorite.

The Avengers’ Tom Hiddleston has been tapped to voice the lead character of Hook in Disney’s animated The Pirate FairyThe movie, with 2014 as its release date, will also include the voice talents of Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks as Zarina, the latest fairy addition to Tink’s crew.

Zarina, the newest fairy in Pixie Hollow is a seafaring, smart, swashbuckling fairy who creates a new type of Pixie Dust that gives her the abilities that the other fairies have. Tinkerbell  (Parenthood‘s Mae Whitman) must find a way to return things to normal before Pixie Hollow is turned completely upside down.

According to insiders at the D23Expo being held this week, Zarina snatches the Hollow’s essential Blue Pixie Dust and joins the pirates of Skull Rock.

In that crew of pirates is a young lad named James, who is better known by his future title: Captain Hook. As mentioned before, Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, will be the voice behind the young soon-to-be villain. “Cabin Boy James is educated and polite and energetic and charming and attentive. James and Zarina are steady on. They’re like best friends … for a while,” said Hiddleston. “It’s all an act. He’s covering for his ruthless and cunning nature.”

Director Peggy Holmes announced the casting news and had this to share about the project. ”We start to bridge Tink’s world of Pixie Hollow and her world of Peter Pan,” Holmes told the D23 crowd.

Hiddleston told the attendees of D23 he was thrilled to be a part of a Disney film because he idolized The Jungle Book and sang “The Bear Necessities” in an audition once. The crowd cheered at that particular tidbit until he was forced to sing some of it live.

Hiddleston is also set to sing in the movie so fans who missed out his vocal abilities at the Expo will get to see him show them off once more in the new film.
