New Girl is about to get even funnier… Linda Cardellini is set to join the show in a reoccurring role. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Cardellini has been cast as Jess’ (Zooey Deshanel) wild sister, Abby, in a reoccurring role.
This role will be far different than her role as Sylvia Rosen, attempting to romance Don Draper on AMC’s Mad Men. Her work on that series earned her an Emmy nomination for Best Guest Actress in a Drama.
Cardellini is no stranger to comedic television, as she starred in Judd Apatow and Paul Feig’s short lived (but cult favourite) Freaks and Geeks in 1999.
You may also recognize Cardellini as Chutney from Legally Blonde.
Although Fox has yet to confirm how many episodes Cardellini will feature in, her first appearance is tentatively set for February.
