Game of Thrones has made another casting announcement today! The gorgeous Indira Varma, of Luther and Rome fame, has been cast as Ellaria Sand. This casting announcement cements the fact that we will (finally) learn about the distant desert land of Dorne in the upcoming fourth season of the hit show. Fans of George R. R. Martin’s books know that Prince Oberyn Martell brings Ellaria to King Joffrey’s wedding.
Ellaria is the sexy and audacious paramour of Prince Oberyn (Pedro Pascal). She is the mother of four of Prince Oberyn’s daughters, known as the Sand Snakes. She is described as being dark featured, exotically eye-catching and sensuous-looking. Do you think Indira Varma fits the bill?
The other most recent addition to the already stellar cast of the upcoming season of Game of Thrones is Mark Gatiss, a writer and actor best known for his work on BBC’s Sherlock. We’re still not sure who he will be playing, but as soon as we know, you will, too!
