It speaks volumes when a director such as Jerry Bruckheimer gives you his praise on your abilities as a director, when he’s not the one behind the camera. Joachim Ronning & Espen Sandberg have been given a thumbs up from former Pirates director Jerry Bruckheimer! Both Sandberg & Ronning have been hired to direct the next film in the series.
When talking to IndieWire, Bruckheimer explained that it was the historical drama Kon-Tiki that convinced him that both Ronning & Sandberg should direct the 5th Pirates Of The Caribbean film. He said: “They were interested in doing it and they flew over and we showed them a script we were working on and they had some really amazing ideas. They came to Hollywood and settled in and started working on it. We’re hiring production designers now and it’s moving forward.”
Bruckheimer did reveal that the 5th film in the series will be a combination of Adventure & Horror. It’s also looking like they might be filming on the Gulf Coast of the US. Bruckheimer also added “We’re certainly going to be filming in Louisiana because of the tax breaks and I think there might be a sequence there, But, it will also be set in the Caribbean obviously.”
It’s expected that production will begin sometimes later this year, or as early as 2014 from the writer of Catch Me If You Can, Jeff Nathanson. Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 starring Johnny Depp is set to be released on July 10th, 2015.
