Gilmore Girls Science Fair Tweet Leaves Fans Reeling

Netflix is not done pulling at our heartstrings! Their latest Gilmore Girls tweet hints at a science fair project reminiscent of the original series!

If you’re not fully caught up on Netflix’s Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life, you should probably stop reading right now. Netflix’s newest tweet about an eighth grade science fair has fans in a full-on panic!

When we last left Rory and Lorelai, the latter had just gotten married to the man of her dreams in a picture perfect wedding, and the former had just broken it off with her kind-of-not-really boy…thing, Logan.

Oh, and she announced her pregnancy.

Now, the logical conclusion would be that Logan is the father. But we cannot forget Rory’s other boy thing, Paul.

Peter? Patrick? Phil?

Nope, his name is Paul. He and Rory had been dating for two-ish years when he comes to visit the house … again. Not that Luke or Lorelai remember him, even though he brings Luke an awesome and rare tool and fixes Lorelai’s computer just like he said he would the last time he visited.

We feel kind of sorry for the guy. Poor Peter doesn’t deserve such disrespect!

…Paul. We totally meant Paul.

Netflix sent fans’ heads rolling with their latest tweet, which features what looks like a genetics science project to find out the true father of Rory’s baby.

Is it Logan or Phi – PAUL, we mean Paul. Logan or Paul? Or perhaps that one night stand Rory had with that Wookiee in NYC?

In an interview with E!News, show bosses Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino revealed that, while they do know who the father is, they aren’t going to tell anyone.

“I think a lot of clues are out there. I know with the time passage it wasn’t 100 percent clear,” Daniel said, “but we also didn’t have her engage with who she thought was the father. She felt like she was going ahead on this, deciding what to do and how to do it solo, that’s why we had her go to her father. At that point you didn’t know she was pregnant…”

“We just sort of felt like we wanted to leave it in that way because it was really less about who the father was and more about Rory repeating her mother’s history,” Amy revealed.

As to whether or not there will be a Part 2, they’re not too sure. While it could definitely happen, both Amy and Daniel agree it is the fans who make the show as popular as it is. Without them, there is no Gilmore Girls.

So will that science fair come to pass? Will Rory’s child grow up in similar circumstances? Will we ever find out if Logan is the father, or will it be Pat –

Paul. We totally meant Paul.

Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life is now streaming on Netflix.
