It will be one of the most followed pregnancies in recent memory, that of the first born (and third in line to the British crown) child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Having appeared to have gotten over the worst of her morning sickness that had her hospitalised late in 2012, Kate joined William at a St Patrick’s Day parade at Aldershot Barracks.
Following the earlier slip up this month where it appeared that Kate accidently gave a hint that she was carrying a royal princess, Kate revealed that she would like her baby to be a boy, but that William would prefer a girl. In chatting with members of the 1st Battalion Irish Guards after the event, the English Standard reported that Kate told Guardsman Lee Wheeler that they don’t know the sex of the baby yet but that “I’d like to have a boy and William would like a girl.” She also said that they did not have any names picked. In speaking to fellow Guardsman Jason Perry she said that she was ‘very’ excited to be having her first child and that everything is fine with the pregnancy.
Suitably dressed for the occasion (and the typical English weather), the Duchess wore the green Emilia Wickstead dress coat and shamrock badge that she wore last St Patrick’s Day at a similar event. Though she did suffer an embarrassing misstep when one of her heels got caught in a drain and William had to assist in helping her get free.
Pictures from the event can be seen here, including shots of a gracious William coming to his Duchess’ aid, then laughing at her mishap, and glimpses of her slight baby bump.
So do you think Will or Kate will have their hopes realised come July? What names do you think they should grace their little prince or princess?
