The Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe-nominated Morrison’s new studio album, Where It All Began, is released on 4 June. The 12-track album features a collection of Broadway standards and takes Morrison back to his musical roots. A strong advocate of LGBT rights, Morrison has teamed up with the HRC donating a portion of the proceeds from the Amazon.com pre-sale of his album to the human rights NGO.

In a statement from the HRC, Morrison said; “I’m thrilled to join HRC in their vital work to bring full equality to all Americans. At this decisive moment, when there is so much work still ahead, I’m standing with HRC and LGBT people across the country until this fight is won”.

Morrison worked with producers Phil Ramone and Gregg Field on the album, which also marks the first release from 222 Records, Adam Levine’s newly formed label. Levine, a good friend of Morrison’s and fellow LGBT supporter, is thrilled with the partnership stating, “It was so great working with Matthew on Where It All Began. He is an amazing artist and we are longtime friends. We’re both huge supporters of the LGBT community and I’m glad that partial proceeds from the pre-sale of this album will go to such a great cause”.

In addition to the pre-sale donation, Morrison has also contributed to the HRC’s Americans for Marriage Equality campaign, joining a number of prominent Americans in featuring in a video supporting gay and lesbian marriage. The campaign has received support from a vast array of Americans from professional athletes to film and music celebrities to political and civil leaders.

HRC President, Chad Griffin, praised Morrison for his involvement in the project describing him in glowing terms: “Not only is Matthew a brilliant musical talent, but perhaps more importantly he is a fantastic human being. His support for equality at this critical time in our nation’s history is something that is important to all fair minded Americans”.

Also airing this 1 June at 8pm on PBS is his special concert performance, Matthew Morrison: Where It All Began – Live from the Bushnell. The concert taped last November at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts in Hartford, Connecticut features his performance of hits from the stage and screen.
