Glee has been off our screens for three weeks now, and in that time momentum has built for what Ryan Murphy has been promised to be “the most powerful emotional Glee ever”. During “Shooting Star” (an episode solely set in Lima), “something unthinkable” will happen at McKinley High, and though it has been debated, discussed and dissected before a single screening, the events will leave fans reeling long after the credits roll tonight.
The episode also marks the long-awaited return of Dot Marie Jones, McKinley’s lovable Coach Beiste, and ETonline spoke to her about the highly charged episode. She describes the “Shooting Star” as “the most emotionally charged episode we’ve ever done”, and that “there’s so much packed into the hour”, it could have easily been spread over two hours.
Apart from the “unthinkable” incident, which begins about halfway through the episode, we will get to see Beiste confessing to Mr Schue (Matthew Morrison) that she has a crush on someone – and from what we’ve heard at Popwrapped, the person is someone that Beiste-fans have had an inkling about since a drunken night out together in season 2’s “Blame It On The Alcohol”. Jones confirms that “When fans find out who it is, they’ll be able to put a lot of things together, and it will totally make sense”.
The other big storyline in this week’s episode is Ryder’s “Catfishing” one saying that Ryder is “such a sweet boy, and that amazing storyline is really about how cruel people can be”. She does tease that fans will be seriously shocked when they find out who the mysterious “Katie” is.
When discussing fan-favourite and key player in this week’s episode, Brittany’s cat Lord Tubbington, Jones admits that she wishes she could work with him, mainly because “Tubbington reminds me of my cat, who is also a big boy”.
Glee returns tonight on Fox at 9pm ET/8pm CT and make sure you follow @Popwrapped for live tweets during the episode.
