“There’s no tragedy in life like the death of a child,” Dwight D. Eisenhower.
No one knows this more than the parents of gone too soon Glee star, Cory Monteith. His father Joe, had been estranged from the star until 2009 when they reunited after 17 years. The former military man said in a recent interview that he was not able to see his son before he was cremated and was also unable to attend the private memorial service with ex-wife, Ann McGregor, Lea Michele, and Cory’s older brother Shaun.
“I always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very very much,” Monteith told TMZ, referring to Cory’s older brother Shaun.” ‘I’m saddened at the fact that I couldn’t have been there to see my son before he was cremated.”
Cory had been fighting a public battle with drugs and alcohol before he was found dead last week at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver. “When they did break the news to my wife, she almost fell over; in fact I had to grab her. And I did ask them again what was that you said? It didn’t really sink in,” Joe told ET Canada. “I’m devastated.”
A statement has not yet been released from Cory’s mother or brother, but many of his friends and co-stars have begun speaking out on the tragic incident.
