DreamWorks Studios has just acquired all of the rights to begin producing a film about the Catholic Church sex scandal.
In 2003, reporters working for the Boston Globe did their research and uncovered cases of sexual abuse by Massachusetts priests that had been kept a secret. The paper was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service that same year. The story not only affect the US, but shed light on the worldwide problem.
Now, DreamWorks Studios in collaboration with Participant Media are teaming up to create the dramatic film that is going to show everyone the truth.
Tom McCarthy is set to direct and will co-write the script with Josh Singer. Singer also wrote the script for the upcoming Wikileaks story, The Fifth Element. These production groups have collaborated on other projects such as The Help, Lincoln, The Soloist, and The Kite Runner.
