Despite Grumpy Cat taking the world (and most certainly the internet!) by storm over the last couple of years, it would seem as if she has finally been de-throned by Earl, a five month-old, second generation puggle who resides in Iowa.
DailyMailOwner Derek Bloomfield, who lives with his girlfriend Christie, decided to post pictures of his pet on Reddit.com and quickly amassed a huge following of more than two million. Rather unsurprisingly, the photos he posted were soon turned into memes, which have made their way ’round various social media sites, including Tumblr. Earl has even been featured in US Weekly!
DailyMailPhotos of the pooch see him with a seemingly permanent grumpy expression, although Bloomfield insists his pet is energetic and loves to sunbathe and chase balls around the park saying:
He had the grumpy expression from day one..he just looks grumpy because of his under-bite, wrinkles, and dark complexion. He’s constantly trying to snuggle up to one of us and has us in constant fits of laughter through his facial expressions and mannerisms.
On the back of her success, Grumpy Cat, AKA Tardar Sauce, inspired a bestselling range of books, among other things, and has reportedly amassed a fortune bigger than some A-list movie stars. She also has her own Instagram, Facebook and Twitter pages, and it may yet be possible for Grumpy Pug to soon have the same.
