Things are definitely looking out-of-this-world for Marvel’s Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Hitting theaters this Friday, Aug. 1st, the movie is estimated to bring in $65 to $70 million in its first weekend. If it hits $70 million, it will dethrone The Bourne Ultimatum as the highest August opening in movie history.
The film will be released on 4,080 screens in North America alone, the widest ever for an August release.
The movie has other factors on its side including an overwhelmingly positive response from critics and fans who caught previews, scoring it a whopping 93% “fresh” rating on the Rotten Tomatoes movie review site.
The Sci-Fi Action Comedy has also benefited from a savvy marketing campaign which successfully introduced the relatively unknown comic book story and characters to a wider movie-going audience.
