Digital Spy reports that there is a possibility a sequel to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is already being planned.

Guardians of the Galaxy is part of Marvel’s ‘Phase 2’ series of films, along with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron.  A sequel to Guardians could easily be part of ‘Phase 3’.  Marvel revealed that the much anticipated Ant-Man, directed by Edgar Wright, will be the start of ‘Phase 3’ beginning in July 2015.  Marvel recently confirmed that Thor 3 is also in the works, which will also be a part of ‘Phase 3’.

The Guardians sequel will follow a few months after the premiere of a “Guardians of the Galaxy” cartoon on Disney XD in Fall 2015.

Vin Diesel recently joined the already star studded cast as the tree-like alien, Groot.  Other stars include Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, with Glenn Close as Nove Rime Rael, Benicio del Toro as the Collector (who was seen in the credits scene during Thor: The Dark World), and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket the Raccoon.
