Something that we have all been waiting for since X2 came out years ago is finally happening! It has been confirmed that Alan Cumming, who played fan favorite Nightcrawler, has joined the cast of the upcoming sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Cumming played the shy teleporter Nightcrawler in X2 and his new co-star, James McAvoy spilled the beans about his return to the big screen in an interview with Heat Radio. Along with being a beloved part of the X-Men comic books, Nightcrawler became a fan favorite in the film series because of his incredible powers (one minute you see, the next second, he’s gone! Bamf!), and because of Cumming’s unique persona that shone through in his portrayal of the mutant.
In case of you have missed any of the X-Men casting news, Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Halle Berry (Storm),Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Anna Paquin (Rogue), Shawn Ashmore (Ice Man), and Ellen Page (Kitty Pryde) from the initial trilogy are returning, as are James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast) from X-Men: First Class. Peter Dinklage and Omar Sy are the newbies in this ensemble, and Bryan Singer is set to direct the project.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is set for release on July 18th, 2014 with production starting in just a few months.
How awesome is this news that Nightcrawler is coming back to the film series? This fangirl cannot take contain herself! Is it 2014 yet?!
