Rumors have been quietly circulating for some time now that Shailene Woodley, one of the stars of The Descendants and The Secret Life of the American Teenager, is up for the lead in the film adaptation of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars. The book addresses the matters of life and death, following teen Hazel as she’s going through the recovery stage after being diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer. This interaction on Twitter has caused many to believe that Shailene is up for the much coveted role of Hazel in John Green’s work. Our friends at Hypable.com, have recently been in contact with Shailene’s publicist, who has indeed confirmed to them that Shailene is indeed up for consideration for this role, although it is unclear if she is in the negotiations part of the deal for the role. One can only hope that their interaction via the social network, Twitter, means that she is close to finalizing the deal to bring this wonderful book to life. The Fault in Our Stars movie is currently searching for a director so casting plans may not be official for some time, but producers hope to shoot the film this summer. Woodley, meanwhile, is set to start working on The Amazing Spiderman 2 as Mary Jane Watson.

What do you think about this? Do you think we’ve found our Hazel, or should John Green keep looking?!
