HBO has picked up a new untitled series starring Glee’s Jonathan Groff for an eight episode season. The series, directed by Andrew Haigh and written by Michael Lannan, also stars up-and-coming Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett.
The dramedy chronicles the lives of three best friends living in San Francisco, CA, the adventures they have and the obstacles they face growing up as a part of a new generation of gay men in America.
Groff, best known for his role as Jesse St. James on Glee, first shot to fame for his Tony nominated performance in the hit musical Spring Awakening. Other on-screen credits include Taking Woodstock and the upcoming The Normal Heart, helmed by Ryan Murphy.
Based off a feature film script, Lorimer, production is slated to begin this fall with expected 2014 premiere.
