Sad news for fans of the critically adored yet ratings challenged dramedy Enlightened. HBO has announced that the second season of the series will be its last.
“It was a very difficult decision,” said HBO reps in a statement. “We’re proud of the show and we look forward to working with Mike White and Laura Dern in the future.”
White –series co-creator and actor in it- seemed to know that the cancellation was a distinct possibility coming into season two. He made sure that Amy Jellicoe emerged triumphant against disgraced CEO Charles Sizdon.
Enlightened is a show about “Amy Jellicoe (Dern), a self-destructive executive, who, after the implosion of her professional life and a subsequent philosophical awakening in rehabilitation, tries to get her life back together”.
