Bless the Norse gods! Chris Hemsworth posted a video of his workout to Instagram over the weekend and we’re already swooning. Shirtless and with arm muscles on full display, Hemsworth showed us how to get the body of one worthy of carrying Mjollnir.
Over 2.6 million people have tuned in to watch this 33-year-old actor and father get the most out of his high-intensity workout. From a simple, focused bike ride to hanging leg lifts, it is plain to see where Thor gets his physique...or maybe it’s the other way around.
Are we sure the Hemsworths aren’t descended from Nordic immortals?
After his In the Heart of the Sea (2015) performance, where he tried a new diet/weight loss regime he called “Lost at Sea,” we are certainly pleased to see him taking his rightful place beside Odin and the gods of Asgard as they take on the end of the world in Thor: Ragnarok.
According to Muscle and Fitness, Hemsworth’s workouts have gotten plenty of attention. He trained with Navy SEAL Duffy Gaver for his first appearance as Thor, focusing primarily on his arms, shoulders, and upper body. Even though muscle weighs more than fat, you can hardly tell Hemsworth gained 20 pounds.
Under their “Workout Routines” page, M&F welcomes viewers and subscribers to “chisel out the Avenger’s physique” with such videos as “Bulking with Thor 2 Stuntman Bobby Holland Hanton” and “Train Like a God.” Overall, the workouts take about five days and contain around 34 exercises––and yes, you will need equiptment.
“People see Chris and they think he was on steroids, but he didn’t touch a single substance,” Gaver says. “It was just red meat, heavy weights and some protein powder. He crushed every single workout. He simply decided to look like Thor.”
If only it were that easy.
Hemsworth will reprise his godly role in Thor: Ragnarok, in theaters November 3, 2017.
