Homeland Has Unleashed Its Season Three Trailer

In a run-up to the fall TV viewing season, the team behind Showtime’s Homeland have given a season three trailer to Digital Spy and the world at large.

In the trailer, the most important thing to note is that scenes are depicted out of sequence, but at least we can get an idea of what awaits Sgt Brody (Damian Lewis), Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin), and Carrie Matheson (Claire Danes).

None of it looks uplifting – but it definitely smacks of the riveting drama and great acting viewers and critics have grown accustomed to expecting.

The trailer features very little dialogue – what there is of it is Carrie and Brody at the end of a nighttime goodbye of sorts, Carrie being sworn in at a Congressional hearing (for the 12/12 attack). It also has Saul telling Carrie that he’s sorry. Nothing terribly revealing, just very intriguing.

The Brody family also appears to be going through ‘a time’ – Jessica (Morena Baccarin) is repeatedly shown wearing a stoic face – sometimes surrounded by press and other times not. The daughter Dana, whom Brody had confided his conversion to Islam at the end of season one, looks like she just misses her father a lot. The images showing her unfurling his prayer mat, touching its edges, and finally appearing to genuflect on it might cause an eyebrow raise or two in some camps.

It looks like there’s A LOT awaiting viewers when Showtime premieres the first episode Tin Man is Down of the new season on September 29th. If my cable package offered Showtime, I’d set my calendar now – but that doesn’t mean you can’t prepare and take note. Do it.

I hope you’ll agree with me that it’s worth your time.
