Female Link Revealed In ‘Zelda’ Concept Art Book ‘Hyrule Warriors’

The idea of a female version of our hero Link fronting The Legend of Zelda series has long been a killer conversational topic, especially in the modern age

The idea of a female version of our hero Link fronting The Legend of Zelda series has long been a killer conversational topic, especially in the modern age where the idea of strong female roles are becoming more and more of a positive trend.

Well, as it turns out, the good folks over at Team Ninja may have gotten the closest to actually realizing this dream for gamers across the globe by developing a female version of Link, as was revealed in scans of the Japan-exclusive Hyrule Warriors art book this morning. Called “Rinkeru” in the art book, she is very clearly a heroine version of our popular green-garbed hero.

Ultimately, though, a full realization of such a character remains just a dream for the millions of Zelda fans around the world right now as the Rinkeru concept art was just that: concept art. Still, though, the images hint that perhaps Nintendo will listen to the outcry much sooner than later by introducing a true female iteration of Link to us, or by making Zelda the lead in an upcoming title.

For now, though, the upcoming Hyrule Warriors has plenty of girl power fueling its jets. You’ve got yourself playable versions of Zelda, Impa, Sheik, Midna, Fi, Agatha, and Princess Ruto confirmed thus far with an original female mage in the form of Lana also taking center-stage in the incoming hack-and-slash adventure’s story.

Hyrule Warriors is set to be released on September 19, 2014 in Europe, on September 20 in Australia, and on September 26 in North America, with a Japanese date spearheading it all on August 14 — just two days away!
