With the recent ending of the wildly popular children’s series “iCarly,” Miranda Cosgrove has made her way to network television, according to recent reports. The young actress is slated to play in an upcoming NBC pilot titled “Girlfriend in a Coma.” Cosgrove will star alongside Christina Ricci in the series, and will be portraying Ricci’s 17-year old daughter Evie, who is described as: “a small-town, overachieving loner.” Cosgrove’s character has her world flipped upside down when her mother awakes from a coma she has been in for years. Evie then finds herself struggling to balance her overachieving nature and looming college career with her mother’s awakening.
“Girlfriend in a Coma” will mark Cosgrove’s first television endeavor since the end of her Nickelodeon series, but not her first post-“iCarly” gig. The current college student also recently lent her voice to the animated “Despicable Me” sequel, which is set to hit theatres this summer.
