Having proven to be a huge hit at last month’s WOMAD festival, acclaimed artist Buika continues to win over fans on both sides of the Atlantic.
Originally from Spain and now residing in Miami, Florida, Buika has been recording music for fifteen years and cemented her status as a truly gifted artist with her 2006 album Mi Niña Lola (My Little Girl Lola) and the follow-ups El Ultimo Trago (The Last Drink) and Noche Más Larga (The Longest Night).
She is currently on tour in support of her new album Vivir Sin Miedo, which translates as “To Live Without Fear.” The album was co-produced by Grammy Award-winning Swedish producer, Martin Terefe who has worked with Mary J. Blige and Coldplay.
To date, she has amassed a huge international following thanks to her songs through which Buika bears her soul to her fans, or her “tribe” as she calls them. She is also the winner of
two Latin Grammy Awards and has racked up several nominations including Best Album and Record of the Year. She has also been championed by The New York Times, The New Yorker and NPR.
Over the course of her career, she also collaborated with some huge names in the industry such as Jason Mraz, Seal, Pat Metheny and Chick Corea, creating music of different styles and in various languages which include, but are not limited to Spanish, Catalan, French, Portuguese and Armenian.
