Remember when Jay-Z “retired” from the rap game?
Well, looks like Chris Brown is following in the Hova’s footsteps, no pun intended. The singer of the hit ‘Fine China’, took to Twitter on August 5th to threaten (the world?) that he would retire from the music industry.
He said that he is “tired of being famous,” for his assault on ex-girfriend Rihanna back in 2009 and not for his “music and talent.”
Brown had previously spent a total of 45 minutes in jail for an ongoing hit-and-run case and is unsure about the future of his upcoming album X, set to be released August 20th in the US.
“Don’t worry mainstream America. After this X album, it’ll probably be my last album,” stated Brown on Twitter. “Being famous is amazing when it’s for ur music and talent. I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I’m cool & over it!”
The 24-year-old star is already on probation for his assault on RiRi, which was revoked this past July, following his alleged hit-and-run. The singer has gone on to deny claims that he failed to produce accurate insurance information following a car accident in Los Angeles. Brown’s next scheduled appearance in court is set for August 16th.
Although believed to be separated after a very brief reconciliation, the singer confirmed last month that Rihanna would be featured on the up and coming album, X. Maybe the title is a metaphor. Only Chris knows.
