The world of Glee has recently had its share of ups and downs. Following the shocking death of star Cory Monteith, there was speculation that the hit Fox show may not even return for its scheduled fall premiere. However, after Lea Michele (Monteith’s on and off-screen girlfriend at the time at his death) rallied the cast and crew to come back to work. Producers resumed work on the primetime musical-comedy drama, and in doing so, uplifted the spirits of all involved.
Get excited Gleeks, because it now appears that the cast and crew (and us fans!) have something to celebrate. While speaking to reporters this week, co-head of FOX Television, Gary Newman, revealed that a live stage musical of Glee is currently in development. Newman explaine: “We launched a live stage business with a sold-out arena concert tour in 2011 and now a live stage musical is in the works.”
The FOX executive didn’t go into much detail as to what is expected of the production or if it is planned for the Broadway stage, but he said just enough to stir some excitement. Is Rachel Berry finally getting her big break on Broadway?!
What do you think? Would Glee work on Broadway?
