Disney fans, have you heard the rumors? According to the Epcot Explorer’s Encyclopedia, the Imagination Pavilion will be closing down on January 2, 2014.

They report that Captain EO, starring the late Michael Jackson, will not be returning. However, the ride and retail location are only rumored to be closed for a year to make way for some renovations.

Imagination! is part of Future World in Epcot, one of the theme parks located at Walt Disney World in Florida. It first opened back in 1982 and since then has gone through many renovations; so this wouldn’t be the first time.

Currently, there are 3 main attractions: Journey into Imagination with Figment (ride), Captain EO (film) and ImageWorks.

Captain EO first ran from 1986-1994 and returned three years ago. However, since it’s rumored to not be returning, speculation about what is to take its place has been flying. Rumor has it that something Phineas and Ferb related will be making its way over to the pavilion.

But how drastic will renovations to the rest of the attractions be? I guess we will just have to wait and see.
