Fans have been eagerly awaiting the new trailer of Marvel’s latest venture, Iron Man 3. The trailer begins with a narration from the man himself, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Talking about his life, Stark says he’s makes stuff, he has a great girl and ‘occasionally’ saves the world (understatement of the century anyone?)
Then… we’re introduced to the latest villain of the popular franchise, Mandarin, played by Ben Kingsley. Personally, to me it seems like the film is taking a Dark Knight Rises approach, as Mandarin’s techniques resemble that of Bane, i.e. terrorist attacks and use of planes. Additionally, his methods also seem very similar to the masked villain; the special effects department have really had their work cut out on this one, as its explosions galore!
Another comparison to Christopher Nolan’s epic TDKR, is the similar ‘Where’s Batman? Where’s Iron Man?’ storyline disruption towards the beginning of the trailer, however, we soon see our favourite superhero return - with help from the lovely Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) doing what they do best, fighting crime.
I’m just going to leave you with this quote from the new trailer (which looks epic, may I add) Mandarin to Iron Man/Tony Stark: “I’m gonna offer the choice, do you want an empty life, or a meaningful death?”
Iron Man 3 opens May 3rd in US and 26th April in UK. Are you looking forward to seeing what Tony Stark does next? Let us know!
